How is BEXXAR given?1,5

The BEXXAR therapeutic regimen is given in a single course over 1 to 2 weeks. If your doctor prescribes BEXXAR, on the first of 4 visits, you’ll receive a dose of BEXXAR that contains a small amount of radiation that will help to calculate your final dose of BEXXAR. In addition, a scan of your body will be taken.

On the second and third visits, you’ll get additional scans. These 3 scans will be used to determine your final individual dose of BEXXAR. On the fourth visit, you’ll receive the final IV infusion of BEXXAR.

BEXXAR is given through an IV infusion into a vein, the same way other IV medicines are given. On both of the infusion days, you will receive 2 infusions. The first one will take about an hour and the second will take about a half hour. After the fourth visit, your infusions of BEXXAR are finished. You probably won’t have to stay overnight in the hospital after getting BEXXAR. Patients usually go home the same day, although in some circumstances, the doctor may ask you to stay to monitor you a little longer. After your treatment is finished, you’ll need to visit your doctor for check-ups and follow safety precautions.
